Rapper Joey Bada$$ shared some details of his upcoming second album, All Amerikkkan Bada$$, coming April 7th which he believes would make the album not only promising, but land him in some hot water after its release. During his OTHERtone podcast with Pharrell and Scott Vener, he shared that the deep content in the album is what will get him blacklisted.
“Hey man, it’s deep,” he replied, “Like you know, the things that I’m saying on this album isn’t what you hear rappers saying or speaking about. You know what I mean? It’s really topics that I think need to be discussed more in music.”
Pharrell went on to ask the rapper what he’d expect to see from the release of the album in the form of “If this happens…” and Joey responded “It’s more like, if this doesn’t happen. That’s how I’m looking at it. Like, if certain things don’t happen, I’m pretty convinced that I may be blacklisted or something like that. I’ve had all of these feelings that have just been, you know, boxed inside of me,” he admitted. “And as a young musician, I feel responsible to, you know, speak for the people I can speak for. The people who don’t have a voice.”
