Gucci Mane has been winning since he got out of prison. Just last year the rapper announced he’ll be writing a book with very little detail but around this afternoon he gave us a new update on how far along it was coming. He took to twitter to tweet, “I’m an author now.”
Gucci mentions that he began writing while in prison and also asked cowriter Neil Martinez-Belkin to come onboard.
Spokesperson for Simon & Schuster publishing gave this statement, “Simon & Schuster is thrilled to publish Gucci’s story in his own words. Gucci Mane is one of the most influential and revered hip-hop artists in the world. His impact on American music is profound. This will be a major memoir revealing the life and times of the artist and man, chronicling his youth, ascent to the top of the Atlanta trap scene, incarceration, struggles with addiction and personal rebirth.”
The book is detailed to be about Gucci’s roots in Alabama, the streets of East Atlanta, the trap house and the studio where he found his voice as a peerless rapper. He reflects on his inimitable career and in the process confronts his dark past — years behind bars, the murder charge, drug addiction, career highs and lows — the making of a trap god. It is one of the greatest comeback stories in the history of music.”
I can’t wait and this looks like it will be a good read. It is set for release September 19 but you can preorder it by clicking this link.
